Alabama Cracking Down on Uninsured Motorists

It is illegal to not hold liability vehicle insurance. Starting this year those choosing to NOT hold it are more likely than ever to be caught. Alabama has initiated a new verification system that can check insurance companies rosters within seconds. Many different divisions will have access to the system including license plate officials, police, and the revenue department. This is the result of new legislation brought in by Senator Arthur Orr to crack down on those avoiding the mandatory insurance law.

It is estimated that 22% of Alabama drivers don’t carry the required insurance. This rate is high compared to other states. The goal for this new program is to eventually get that rate down to 10%. Read more about Alabama’s crack down on the uninsured: http://bit.ly/WH00lC
